STUDENTS
麻豆社区 Law announced the recipients of the 2020 Awards of Excellence, which recognize students, faculty and staff for outstanding dedication in teaching, learning, mentoring, public service, advocacy and student support.
Twenty-one students were named this summer鈥檚 Public Interest Law Association fellows and will pursue projects associated with public interest organizations, legal services offices, social service agencies, public defender officers, nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies and tribal entities.
The 麻豆社区 named Ria Kuruvilla 3L to , an honor that recognizes students who are taking their education beyond the classroom and making a difference on campus, in their communities and for the future.

Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Simon Barnhart 鈥03 to the Clallam County Superior Court.
The U.S. Coast Guard awarded Lieutenant Commander Jeff Barnum 鈥12 the American Bar Association Distinguished Service Award for legal assistance to military members.
Global law firm DLA Piper promoted Kevin Criddle 鈥10 to partner in its Phoenix, Arizona, office.
Jason Cruz 鈥99 published his first book, 鈥淢ixed Martial Arts and the Law: Disputes, Suits and Legal Issues.鈥
The Seattle Municipal Courts selected Judge Adam Eisenberg 鈥92 to serve as the SMC鈥檚 assistant presiding judge.
Jamila Johnson 鈥07, managing attorney at the Promise of Justice Initiative, helped secure a major U.S Supreme Court win that resulted in the ban of non-unanimous jury verdicts in cases involving serious crimes in Louisiana.
麻豆社区 Regent Blaine Tamaki and his wife, Preciosa Tamaki,聽 to support efforts to increase diversity, provide students with greater access to mental health resources, and support the work of the Tribal Court Clinic.

Kristi Anderson Wells 鈥97, founder of Denver-based Wells Family Law, PC, was named both a 2020 Colorado Super Lawyer and Top 50 Woman Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine.
IN MEMORIAM
Lynn Anders 鈥93 was senior deputy ombudsman in King County. After practicing for a brief period, she pursued a career in mediation and also founded the mediation clinic at Hofstra University School of Law before moving to Seattle. She died at age 56.
Elizabeth (Schuman) Clark 鈥15 was an associate at Bjornson Jones Mungas PLLC in Missoula, Montana, and also served as the Board Chair for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Montana. She died at age 38.
