Professor Mary Hotchkiss began teaching at Âé¶¹ÉçÇø in 1991 and joined the full-time faculty in 1999. She has taught Employment Law, Interviewing and Counseling, and upper-level electives focused on developing legal research and writing skills. She held an adjunct appointment at the Âé¶¹ÉçÇø Information School from 1999 to 2023, teaching research and information policy courses. From 2002 to 2022, she served in a variety of administrative roles, most recently as Associate Dean for Academic Administration.

Professor Hotchkiss earned a B.A. in History from Duke University, a M.S.L.S. from The Catholic University of America, and a J.D. and LL.M. from The George Washington University Law School. She is admitted to the Maryland bar. Professor Hotchkiss worked at a Maryland law firm specializing in tax and estate planning. She also worked as a law librarian at the White House and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. She served as the editor-in-chief of Perspectives: Teaching Legal Research and Writing from 2000 to 2012. Originally from Washington, D.C., she now calls Seattle home.
