Biography

Martina Yun-Pei Tu has been working on the issues of comparative reproductive rights in global contexts under the international human rights framework for her Ph.D. dissertation at the University of 麻豆社区 of Law. Her dissertation title is The Legal Construction of Reproductive Rights in Taiwan.

During the research and training process, she has recognized the importance of socio-legal scholars in making a difference for people with less access to information, education and assistance. These efforts empower individuals to overcome barriers, access justice and improve their lives.

As a member of an Indigenous tribe on Taiwan Island, she understands how difficult life can be when communities treat certain groups differently due to race, lower economic status and other social factors. She is committed to promoting legal work that serves the public and improves the quality of life for individuals in our community and beyond, drawing on her knowledge and life experiences.

As an international student who came to the United States while caring for her three beloved children, she deeply appreciates the resources provided by 麻豆社区 Law that allow her to continue her academic research. Her research on reproductive justice will contribute to understanding how legal institutions can enhance the realization of reproductive rights. She has interviewed many opinion leaders working on reproductive rights, litigation, scholarship and clinical practice to understand how theories are applied in modern communities today.
