Biography
Henry Tachi is a Ph.D. candidate advised by Michael E. Townsend. He is an expert in intellectual property, technology transfer, energy and natural resources laws and international development, who is passionate about using the law and innovation to improve life for people. Tachi earned a Bachelor of Laws and master's in business law from the University of Yaound茅 II Soa (Cameroon). He earned his Master of Laws in intellectual property law from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, where he was mentored by Prof. Stanley Kowalski at the International Technology Transfer Institute, and a Master of Laws in Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Laws at the University of Houston Law Center.
His areas of professional focus include transactional, policy, and advocacy. He applies his knowledge and finely honed skills working at the World Bank Group addressing poverty and accelerating development. He also worked for several years managing intellectual property protection in the 17 countries of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) in francophone Sub Sahara Africa, as well as in the intellectual property department of corporations in the United States including Essilor of America managing the company鈥檚 international patent portfolio.
Research
Tachi uses mixed methodology to critically trace the origins and evolution of the legal framework for patent in Francophone Sub Sahara African countries, and how this developed from colonial aspirations.
